Alrighty, peeps. After last Saturday the discussion was brought about how the rules at Rag this year are going to be interpreted that round blades, omni blades, clubs, whatever you want to call them, but cylindrical blues need to be 3" in width. I saw the post that Casimir threw up on the Arkansas group's forum about what their ruling is for cylindrical blues, but it hasn't been answered yet. So, in preparation for our current cylindrical blues not being considered legal, I think we need to *think* about making some adjustments. I'd rather have a ruling from the Arkansas boys before we go and remake or make new blues, but I just thought it would be a good idea to be prepared. So, I checked all of my round cylindrical blues and the thickest one I've got it about 2.75" in diameter. Checking my oval blades, one of them is a bit under 3" in width, and my other one is about 3.25" wide. So, I guess I've currently only got 1 legal blue according Rag guy's ruling.

As it stands now, I've got 1 blue that is in a broken down condition to have the blade remade (already weighted properly with hilt, everything else, just needs a new blade and a cover). But, I do have 2 sticks of .505 kite spar leftover, and that'll make 2 blues each. I do have some Volara left over, but my guess is that I can probably make 2 blues, but I doubt I can get 3 out of it.

So, my thinking is that if we don't get a ruling soon from those Arkansas boys about round/omni/club/cylindrical blues, then we'll have to bite the bullet and make some new blues or refit old ones.

Now, there is a local source for Volara, but from what I remember they only have 3/8" thickness, I believe. I'm not 100% sure, or even sure if they still carry it, but they did have it available here, at Capital City Upholstery:

And if that link is too long or just doesn't work, then here's their info:

So, I'm thinking if we don't hear from the Arkansas boys soon then we should get together is coming Saturday (April 17th) and make some 3" width blues that are either full round, or using the oval construction method that I came up with, or even retrofit an older round blue to make it 3" width legal. If we do get together and make them, don't forget that means you're probably going to need a new cover cover, too.

There is a phone number listed on the site that I will be calling on Tuesday evening if I have not got an answer on the forums yet. Anything I learn from that I will post here.

Got a reply, they don't care as long as the tip doesn't pass through a 2.5 inch template, so there should be no problems there.

Awesome! Thanks for looking into that for us, Casimir!! Good times. And fellas, double check your weapons to make sure they're good to go. I'll be bringing some extras, but who knows if they'll pass. Some realms are more strict than others, especially when it comes to stabby tips.
