We'd need to know where you live, in a general area. Like, Austin, Round Rock, El Paso...Hamburg...you know?

I am not sure the youngest that Izec allows personally. It is really up to the chapter on the youngest you are allowed to start playing. I know that there are 14 year olds that are interested in playing and they have been invited to come out.
Unless you have a decent sized group already established, I would recommend you joining another group. If you live within an hour drive, then you should go to that chapter. At most, the messtings are once a week, so that should not be such a big deal. Grim Sword meets every two weeks as of right now, so an hour drive every two weeks for 5 hours of fighting isn't that big a deal.
As for the meeting times, we meet up every other weekend on Saturday from 1pm to 6pm. What happens, is we fight, simply enough. You learn a great deal with hands on, so the best we to get better is to just come out and swing foam. If you ask, just about anyone there can teach you some basic tenchniques, and then you just practice until you have them down.
Hope that halped you out.

The chapter closest to your location that I can find is in Mobile, AL. They are called Luk Savat.

Re: I'm a new guy
Basically, the 16 years old requirement in the Dagorhir rulebook is for large, inter-realm events. If you create your own chapter/realm you can set the age to anything you want. I wouldn't suggest going too far below 14, though. A lot it is going to depend upon the player, too. Not everyone is the same. Some kids at 12 are way more mature and ready for Dag while some kids at 16+ are still not fit. If you are under 18 and want to start a realm I would suggest talking to your parent(s) about it. Starting a realm takes time and effort. If you really want to do it, though, go for it, it is totally worth it, but just keep in mind that it takes perseverance and it sometimes will not be easy. An adult's help and perspective is a valuable resource, especially when/if you have to talk to the local police authorities about why you're hitting your friends with foam sticks in the public park.
