Where do I start? I've got a basic idea of what Dag is, from Youtube and Google research, but beyond that not too much...

Come out this Friday and Saturday, if you are not already familiar with the rules of Dagorhir, anyone will be happy to explain them to you. We have plenty of loaner equipment, so you don't have to worry about rushing to make weapons before practice. And you don't really have to worry about garb if you are just starting out as our chapter is pretty laid back when it comes to garb. Just make an appearance, the best way to lear how to swim is to just jump in, and the same is true for Dagorhir. If you hav any specific questions, feel free to ask on here and I am sure I or someone else should be able to answer them.

Thanks, but to be honest, it will probably be a while before I head out that way, I'm still living under the iron thumb of my parents and I don't think they'd be too pleased with me driving out to Austin just to play with, as my dad would call them, 'freaks'. I'm very interested though, and will do everything in my power to get out and all. Since I'll have time, I'll just go ahead and start fashioning weapons and garb and planning my escape from the house.

You should have your dad come out to meet us.

That would be...interesting...mayhap I will pose the question...I've got a potential 3 candidates, but I'm not for sure if they'll follow down the same path, they may just be all talk and no action, there wasn't any way I was going to jump into this alone.

There is no problem with jumping in alone, but if they are interested you should have them atleast come down and watch. If someone has an interest in something like this, watching a whole bunch of people enjoying it makes it hard not to want to jump in after a while.
You should definately tell your dad about your interest in the game though and have him bring you to a practice so that he can meet us, he will probably be very surprised that alot of us are more normal than he might think.

Coolness, I'll totally find the time and see what I can do, then, still tryin' to pull some guys together, one of my friends said that Amtgard was more local so he'd rather go to that than Dag, and I tried telling him Dag was better and he was like, "Whatever..." >.>

What's up Loki? I also think that it will be a good idea for your dad to meet us. We really are a good group of guys. As for Amtgard, I have played that game for about 8 years, Dag. is much better. It sucks to be armored up to the teeth and get totally whooped by some crappy spell or fire ball. The magic users are by far the most powerful in Amtgard. If you like running around and fighting up close than Dag. is the game. But if you are kind of lazy and just want to stand back and cast spells or little puffy spell balls, than Amtgard might be your thing. You do a lot of standiong around just waiting in Amtgard.

I take it that you don't live in Austin. Where do you live?

Hope you can come out to check us out this weekend.

I live close to La Grange, about an hour or less away from Austin, but I don't know how far from the park, maybe longer
